Tech Data Benefits Transition – Canada

Thanks for your continued dedication to Avnet during the transition of our Canada TS and Services business to Tech Data.

Your Avnet health plan enrollments and other company-provided benefits (excludes retirement benefits) will continue for up to six months after the close date. We refer to this period of time after the close when Avnet continues to administer your pay and benefits as the “transition period.” The information below addresses what you need to know about your benefits during the transition period as well as any actions you may need to take.

What’s Changing

  • Retirement Plans – Your active participation in the Avnet Pension, RRSP, Savings Plan, and ESPP will end as of the close date; see the benefits transition guide for important details. On the close date, expect to receive an enrollment kit from Tech Data’s administrator, Manulife, with information regarding the Tech Data Deferred Profit-Sharing Plan (DPSP), RRSP, and Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA).
  • Computer Loans – If you have a current loan, payroll deductions will continue during the transition period; however, no new loans will be approved for purchases after the close date.
  • iRecognize – Recognition and service awards will end as of the close date. Unclaimed points can be redeemed by calling Globoforce at 866-294-229

What’s Staying the Same

  • Health Coverage, Life Insurance, and Disability Benefits – Avnet plan enrollments and payroll contributions will continue for up to six months after the close date; see the benefits transition guide for important details on these benefits. NOTE: Employees hired on or after the close date will continue to enroll in Avnet benefits (excludes retirement benefits).
  • Time Off and Holidays – Avnet’s time off and holiday schedule will be observed during the transition period.
  • Education Assistance – The current level of reimbursement will continue for undergraduate and graduate level courses through 2017. Tech Data will provide information separately about its reimbursement policy.

The benefits transition guide includes additional details on your Avnet benefits. We encourage you to carefully review it and, if desired, print a copy for future reference. This external site will be available throughout the transition period when you no longer have access to the Avnet intranet.

We appreciate your contributions to Avnet International (Canada) over the years and wish you the best as you start your career with Tech Data. If you have any questions on your benefits as you transition from Avnet to Tech Data, please contact Sabrina Rajabally at 905-812-4424.
